About me
Cortney Marquette, an Ohioan native, moved to Richmond, VA in 2015 to open a Mid-Atlantic operation for an ecological consulting firm based in Stow, OH. Prior to moving, she managed a program that utilized a biological control agent, the milfoil weevil, that was implemented in lakes all over northern U.S. and Canada to control a nuisance aquatic plant, among other projects.
Cortney left the consulting realm after 17 years to join DEQ as a Project Manager in the CERCLA program in June 2019. Her background in biology offers a holistic perspective to her work, which will only exemplify in her new role with Virginia DEQ as the Voluntary Remediation and Brownfields Program Manager. She is excited to take on new challenges and become one of Virginia’s brownfield champions.
